Interop is an annual trade fair for information technology organized by UBM TechWeb. The massive convention takes place at four different locations at various times of the year. Interop has promoted interoperability and openness, beginning with IP networks and continuing in today’s emerging cloud computing era. Interop 2012 in NYC took place on October 3 & 4th, 2012 at the Jacob Javits Center.
The two words, “Love Meetings,” coupled with a big red hearts were the branded tagline and graphic silk screened across the customized white t-shirts worn by the members of the FuzeBox team at Interop this year. In a sea of corporate sales professionals and product demonstrators all dressed in the same shade of black, the team, their attire, and their controversial message about loving meetings definitely stood out in the crowd. “Love meetings?” the “Interop-goers” would walk by and say, “I’ve never seen those two words together before… but I love the idea…can I see what your product does… and, can I please have a shirt?”
Even at first glance, crowds of people began to see how the concept of “loving meetings” was an approachable reality. It was being demonstrated right there in front of their faces on iPads and laptops. Their faces lit up with excitement and their curiosity was peaked. The technology is a reality! The FuzeBox user interface has been described as “sexy” by Tech Crunch, the price point is very affordable, and the competitors and their antiquated video conferencing software seem to evaporate and dwindle by the second. It was clear that FuzeBox stood out, that the team and the spectators who looked on were all very excited, that this new era of video conferencing, collaborating face to face over important (and non-important) content in unparalleled high-definition, and attending meetings on iPhones is upon us. But, for some major enterprises and fans (who made their way over to booth #131 at Interop to applaud us and speak highly of us to potential Fuzers) that era has already begun. Love Meetings!
